Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny confirmed that the mood in the Arsenal camp has turned around after below-par performances in the month of September.
Speaking to The People, the Poland International revealed that the players believe they can win every single game as long as they keep their concentration and continue to perform just as they have done over the last few weeks with the youngster honestly admitting that the squad still has a point to prove and how they should only be judged at the end of the season.
Asked about Germany’s Per Mertesacker, the 21-year old was full of praise for one of Arsenal’s new signings during the summer as he declared that he has been very good when in action with the Gunners and the £10m spent to sign him were money well spent.
Szczesny kept yet another clean sheet on Saturday against West Bromwich Albion, his seventh of the season with the Gunners slowly recovering in the English Premier League as they now lie 7th in the table, just three points from the Top Four.
On winning games and Mertesacker, the goalkeeper said:
The mood has turned around. There’s a belief we can win every single game – we just have to be focused.
I seriously believe in this club and if we keep playing every single game like we have been recently, why not?
We’ve got a few good results but we still have a point to prove and I think you have to judge us over the course of the season.
I think Per [Mertesacker has] been very good recently. You don’t pay £10million for a centre back with 70-odd caps who is not good.
Everyone needs time to adapt to English football, he’s an experienced player and he keeps getting better and better.
I’m sure he’ll be very good for Arsenal for a long time. But for me it doesn’t matter if my defence are older than me or more experienced than me – it makes no difference.
My job is to get them organised and their job is to listen to me. I’m very comfortable with that.
