Arsenal midfielder Mikel Arteta was very pleased after the Gunners eased past West Bromwich Albion on Saturday in a game they won by three goals to nil.
Speaking to BBC after the game, the Spaniard declared that it was a deserved victory for Arsene Wenger’s men as they played well in the first half, scored two goals, could have easily added more goals and will start this month’s International break knowing that they registered a positive result in their last seven games.
Asked about his first goal at the Emirates Stadium, the 29-year old confessed that his objective in the Arsenal midfield is to help more in the offensive department and to have more goals under his name, a mission that was successfully accomplished against the Baggies.
Arteta concluded by saying that the Gunners cannot afford to make any more mistakes after dropping points in the first part of the season with the players working hard to win as many points as possible so as to get back in the title race.
After the West Brom win, the midfielder said:
[If it's a deserved victory?] Yes, I think it is, we played really well in the first half, scored two goals, could have scored more and kept a good clean sheet.
We’re really pleased because now we’ve got a break and we can enjoy the good run we’ve been on, in the last few months.
[My first goal at the Emirates?] It’s important. I said earlier in the week that I want to contribute a bit more in the attacking side.
It’s s always good to score goals and to help the team to score the third and kill the game off, so I’m pleased.
[It was a lovely goal?] Yes, it was a great turn from Robin [van Persie], he left it for me quite easy near the penalty spot and I just placed it near the post, it was a good goal.
[Our good run?] It’s a great run but the thing is that we’re catching up so it’s always hard because we cannot make any more mistakes.
We’re trying to improve every week and I think we’re doing it and I think we still got a good space to improve even more so that’s for me the most positive thing.

This guy is absolute class. there is still time left, and maybe, just maybe, if the Spain squad ignores his age a little, he can get in for Euro 2012. He deserves every part of it. I doubted him as just a fringe player not realizing his ability. Blew me away how much he influences the midfield. Arsenal are in a transitional period now, shifting from the 3rd team to the 4th team, and he is the perfect guy to guide the youngsters and hold there hands a little so they can stand up in there own 2 feet.
