Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain believes that the spirit in the dressing room has changed after the run of seven positive results.
Speaking to Arsenal Player, the Englishman revealed that the players are now more relaxed and positive after putting together a successful run of positive results with the youngster adding that time was needed for the new players to settle down and how it was therefore normal for the squad to need time to start delivering.
Asked about his impressive Champions League debut against Olympiacos, the 18-year old confessed that it’s nice to break records but how his objective is always to do well to help the team, something that he successfully managed to do with his goal.
Tonight, Oxlade-Chamberlain is in the line for the England Under-21 squad as they face Iceland, at home, with the youngster hitting a hat-trick when the two teams met in Reykjavik, on October 6.
On Arsenal, AOC said:
[What changed within the team in recent weeks?] I think, I have to say the team spirit is … you know, you can see it in the dressing room and every day, everyone is buzzing.
The moment you walk through the door into the dressing room, there’s music playing, the boys are getting ready for training, you know, I think everyone is just pulling together now.
I’ve said it before, earlier on in the season, as soon as we get the team spirit and we start gelling together more … because obviously there was a lot of new signings who did come in.
They settled down quickly but obviously as you know it takes a bit of time to play with different players so I think everyone is working together now and you can see it with the results.
[I'm the youngest every Englishman to score in the Champions League?] It’s nice, after, when you look back at [records], it’s a nice thing to have.
But you know, the most important thing from that goal is that it helped the team to win so to know that I’ve contributed a little bit in the competition, so far, is nice.
