Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is happy with his performances this season as he continues to learn from other players.
Speaking to Arsenal Player and asked if he’s happy with how he performed this season, the Englishman confessed that he knew that his chances to feature for the regular team would have been limited after joining from Southampton adding that this season he is enjoying training as he is learning from top players like Robin van Persie.
Asked if manager Arsene Wenger told him how he will be utilised during this campaign, the 18-year old honestly explained that it’s up to him, that he is to do well in training so as to put pressure on the Arsenal boss.
Despite featuring sporadically, Oxlade-Chamberlain already scored two goals for Arsenal this season, one in the Carling Cup against Shrewsbury Town and a well-taken effort in the Champions League against Olympiacos with both goals scored at the Emirates Stadium.
Ahead of this season, the youngster said:
[Happy with what I produced so far?] Yeah. At Southampton I was playing more week in week out but I knew as soon as I came to Arsenal that it was going to be hard for me.
[I knew that] maybe in my first season I wasn’t going to get a lot of game time.
But the stuff that I have learnt through training everyday with some of the best players in the world, the likes of Robin and all the rest of the boys.
So I have only had a few appearances but as I said, I have scored two goals so I’m happy with that.
[If I've been told how much I will play this season?] You know, it’s down to me at the end of the day, I’ve got to put pressure on the boss to select me.
And I can only do that by training well and when I do get my chance, by impressing so i just have to wait for my chance, keep working hard and just wait.
The boss said to me that it’s up to me, he’s going work with me in the same way I’ve got to work with him.
It’s work in progress but I don’t think there’s any need to rush into things, I trust the boss and he’s going to develop me in the best way.
