Arsenal midfielder Alex Song revealed that the reason why the Gunners improved in recent weeks is because new players have finally settled down.
Speaking to Arsenal’s official website, the Cameroon International was full of praise for his colleagues in midfield as he explained that former Everton man Mikel Arteta, one of this summer’s signings, is doing well with Wales International Aaron Ramsey also showing nice things even though the trio have only started to play together this season.
With the Arsenal midfield still missing Jack Wilshere and Abou Diaby, out injured, the 24-year old also declared that he wants to improve in front of goal as he set an objective of at least eight goals, this season.
On this first part of the season, Song said:
Our knowledge of one another is improving every day. It hasn’t been easy because Mikel only signed for us recently.
But you can see what a good player he is and I’m really happy to be playing with him.
Aaron [Ramsey is] doing well too, and we’re all still coming together and learning what works best.
We’re all trying to help each other and that’s important. The more we communicate, the better we’ll get – if we’re constantly giving each other advice on the pitch then we can become a very good unit.
Also we’ve still got Jack [Wilshere] and Abou [Diaby] to come back, which gives us a lot to look forward to in the midfield.
I’m very happy, although you always want to do more. Last season I scored five goals and this time I’d like to score eight or ten – it would show that I’m improving a lot in that area.
If you want to be a top player you need to keep pushing on, to keep improving every time.
Under one of the best managers of the world I have that opportunity and I’m always trying to take it.
