Arsenal midfielder Theo Walcott believes that Gervinho has been a superb signing for the Gunners during the summer transfer window.
Speaking before and after last Saturday’s 1-2 win against Norwich City away from home, the Englishman explained that the Ivory Coast International settled down straight away despite coming from the French league with the 22-year adding that the winger is indeed the right type of player, for the Gunners.
On Carl Jenkinson, Walcott declared that the 19-year old is eager to learn and improve and is improving at a rapid pace, as the game against West Bromwich Albion demonstrated earlier this month.
Against the Canaries, Walcott was in phenomenal form as he again turned provider for friend Robin van Persie and was overall one of the best players in Arsene Wenger’s side.
On his team-mates, he said:
[Gervinho has] been fantastic this season. Obviously [English football] is totally different to what he’s used to playing.
But now he is playing week in week out in the Premier League, which is very physical, and he is showing his qualities.
He has still got a lot to learn and he knows that – but you can start to see that Gervinho is going to be the right type of player for Arsenal.
[Carl Jenkinson?] He is doing very well. I don’t think he thought he would be playing quite this much but Carl’s got in there and he always wants to learn, which is great to see.
He’s eager, he wants to perform and he is getting better every game now. I think the game against West Brom a couple of weeks ago was his best game for us.
He’s got bags of confidence at the moment, all the lads are encouraging him and it’s showing in his performances.
