The Game
As much as you may love the English Premier League, you cannot deny that the Champions League possesses something special, something that indeed makes it the most important football competition, for clubs.
Today we have a golden opportunity to secure our place in the next round of this fascinating competition, and why not, to win the Group and avoid surprises as it was the case last season. Manager Arsene Wenger, on Tuesday, confirmed that Robin van Persie will start the game and will hence not be rested as it was the case against Olympique Marseille.
Needless to say, the Dutchman is enjoying the best form of his life and it would indeed be silly to rest him knowing that a win is a must tonight and considering that we play Fulham, this weekend. Also, all teams in our group are still in with a shout to make it to the next round so this means that we need our best players to accomplish tonight’s mission.
Also in yesterday’s press conference, Arsene hinted that Per Mertesacker will keep his position in central defence, meaning that Laurent should start at right back with Thomas Vermaelen, of course, alongside the German.
And, until you wait for kick-off, check out why Wojciech Szczesny believes that he still has to prove himself at Arsenal, who will tonight score for the Gunners according to Lee Dixon and also the latest injury news on Abou Diaby, Jack Wilshere and Tomas Rosicky.
As always, please do join the discussion in our chat room which will also be active after the full time whistle. You will be glad to know that from this season, to provide a better chat experience to our readers, users can be banned if they post offensive comments.
