Arsenal midfielder Francis Coquelin was clearly disappointed after the Gunners crashed out of the Carling Cup, on Tuesday.
Speaking to Arsenal Player after the game, the Frenchman explained that the players did well against a strong Manchester City side and were all disappointed after Roberto Mancini’s men secured the win in the last part of the game and a place in the semi-final.
Asked about any positives to take from the game, the 20-year old replied by saying that young players will always learn when they play in front of their local fans adding that they tried extremely hard to keep the unbeaten run going.
Now out of the Carling Cup, Arsenal will shift their focus back to the English Premier League as they play Wigan Athletic on Saturday, hoping to bounce back from last week’s disappointed draw against Fulham, at the Emirates.
On the 0-1 defeat, Coquelin said:
It was a really good effort, I thought we did really well. Manchester City played a strong side and it was a hard game but we did well and we’re disappointed to lose.
In the first half we played really well and when we came back we had a strong second half. The late goal, yeah, it’s very disappointing,
We will take the positives from tonight when we look back at it. We have learned a lot.
When you play in front of this crowd there is always something for us to learn.
[Disappointed to see the unbeaten run end?] Yeah, we really wanted to keep the run going but as I said, it was a really good performance but disappointing [to crash out like this].

Oh come on, Does the carling cup have to count in the run? Anyway, I think these guys are more than capable of doing some appearances in January for the team considering what they showed last night. Compared to 2 months ago, Frimpong has matured so much. And i just love him more for the love he has for the club, bashing Nasri out like that, although it was a bit too much throwing punches (if he did so). DEEENCH!
Theo will have to be consistant like he has been if hes going to hold off the OX. Always better when there is competition. I think Coquelin has developed into a fine central midfielder, his technical ability will be crucial to link the defense and the attack (I no longer see him as a holding midfielder). In the end of the day, although it’d be nice to win, we can only say It was only the Carling Cup. And honestly, silverware is suppose to prove something, and the Carling Cup doesnt really show much for a club. Im more concerned about the premier league top 4 and Champions league.
