Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain on the Walcott comparison, “We are completely different players”

Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is aware that he still has a long way to go but is eager to learn.
Speaking after the mid-week defeat against Manchester City, the Englishman explained that games like the one against the Citizens are an important step in a young player’s career as it helps you to understand where you need to improve as he added that his objective, this season, is to do well whenever given the nod by manager Arsene Wenger.
Asked about similarities with Theo Walcott, the 18-year old concluded by saying that people will compare the two because of their background but how they are completely different as his natural role is that of attacking midfielder.
After the 0-1 defeat, AOC said:
I have already noticed there are some parts of my game which I have to change, and playing against good defenders like I was against City, you are going to learn.
I am just going to keep taking my opportunities and learn, then push onto the next opportunity.
When I came here, I did not think I was going to jump into the squad straight away. Coming from Southampton, I was playing week in week out.
Signing here, I knew I was not going to be involved as much. I would have been naive to think that.
But just being able to train with these players every day, listening to the manager and just being around Arsenal Football Club, I have learned so much since I have come here.
I would not have changed anything for the world. All I can do is try my best to impress when I have got my chance, I just have to keep working hard and improving.
People are going to immediately compare me to Theo. We came to Arsenal at a similar age, in similar positions, so it is an easy comparison to make.
We are completely different players though. Theo is more of a winger or a striker, whereas I have always grown up as an attacking midfielder, who has later gone out wide.
There are a lot of differences but at the same time Theo is a great player so for me to be compared to him is good.

I see some level headedness in this young man already. It is a quality that come naturally to others and others have to learn. Players such as Frimpong who is on the edge of greatness like The Ox could harm his chances by some reactions that are not measured. Within weeks of being involved in the first team line up he had talked his way into trouble more than a fair share.
But this article is about Ox. Good on you young man. We will tracking your progress keenly.
