Emmanuel Frimpong confirms he wants loan move during January transfer window

Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong will ask the Gunners to loan him during next month’s transfer window.

Speaking to Arsenal Player, the youngster admitted that there are way too many good players in Arsene Wenger’s squad to secure a regular place in his line-up this team as he explained that together with Francis Coquelin he did a good job, this season, whenever given the opportunity to shine.

Asked about his campaign so far, the 19-year old declared that he did well in the 11 games in which he featured but did add that in order to play regularly and get the needed experience, a loan move is a must next month.

Ahead of next month’s transfer window, Frimpong said:

It’s hard at Arsenal, every player is basically your age or just a couple years older than you.

So it’s not like other clubs where you’re thinking to yourself, ‘I’m just going to give myself a couple years and then hopefully they will just move on or retire and then I can just come in’.

At Arsenal all players are young so you can’t just rest on your laurels and wait for people to retire, you have to put the effort and I think me and Francis did a good job.

[My contribution so far?] Considering where I was pre-season, I didn’t expect to be where I am at the moment.

But that’s football. For every player to show what he can do he has to be given the opportunity on the pitch.

I’ve had my chance, I played 11 games, I’ve done really well and hopefully I’ll get more games under my belt before the season ends.

[If it's true that I replaced Emmanuel Eboue as the dressing room joker?] No, it’s not, it’s not at all, I think everyone knows Eboue is funny.

I just feel that in the dressing room one has to be lively sometimes, make the players laugh, make them enjoy themselves.

At the moment I’ve got the task of doing that and hopefully I can make Eboue proud wherever he is.

[A loan spell?] Yes, hopefully it does happen in January. As much as I want to play for Arsenal, at the moment I’m not regularly playing games.

Alex Song and the people in midfield have been playing well at the moment so I think the best thing for me to do when January comes is to go out on loan.

We’d (Swansea) love to have him, he is exactly what we need so hearing this gives me a little hope that we can pull it off.

Unfortunately the whispers around here suggest he may be off to either West Brom or Wolves.

A loan spell will do him a lot of good, he needs more maturity as a footballer and he will only get that through game time. My only worry though is who’s Song’s backup then? Diaby is too attacking IMO for the DM role, and Coquelin is as inexperienced as Frimpong, but is less suited to the Song role (he’s more of a technical player, I feel). Do we go for player development, or team security – it’s a tough one.

He is right, i think Arsene should consider rotation. Its the only way he is going to get game time. Am sure coq will be thinking the same. Yeah tooo many good players at the mo. i think we are a bit overloaded in midfiled and we need to offload. He might move then song gets injured. Then he misses an opportunity or song might be healthy the whole season then he does’nt play.

He has to stay with the African cup coming up and jacks fitness questionable

    • Pavel says:

African cup doesn’t affect his position much. Since Cameroon is not in the competition, so Song is not going.
