  • davi says:

Looks like he’s finally hitting form. Hope he can keep it up.

  • Arsenal says:

now if he was playing in an arsenal shirt it would have hit row z

  • Dom says:

What’s more impressive is that it’s his RIGHT FOOT!!!

  • Glory hunter says:

    Wow!
This guy has all the talent in the world but no hunger or drive!

    • eli says:

How do you know he has no hunger or drive?
From what ive seen when he plays with Real Sociedad is a humble player that is eager to do whatever he can for the team that gave him the chance he so badly wanted.

      • Glory hunter says:

My opinion is based on his performances whilst at Arsenal, & on loan at WBA!
Like i said he has all the talent in the world but The guys just too laid back.
No hunger whatsoever, it’s just a bit of fun to him, which is a real shame.
Have u ever seen Vela upset or angry???
        No! Neither have I.

        • eli says:

I love how you answer your own question. That’s your opinion, that its fun for him, but in real sociedad-if you watch the games- you can see how pissed off he gets. How physical he gets with the defense. You see a lot of heart.

  • Taif says:

DAMMM. Wenger please dont sell him

  • Sergio says:

Great goal. Arsene should give Carlos Vela a second chance at Arsenal.

    • JohnDale says:

Like he ever got a first???

      • Chris says:

Indeed and no way he’ll return to Arsenal now that he found a manager who keeps him on the pitch for the full 90 minutes even if he’s not doing well.

Yesterday he was having a bad game but suddenly he invented this, showing that if given confidence he will repay you with goals, his second in a week. At Arsenal he was behind Andrey Arshavin, a shocking Andrey Arshavin and loaned out to buy Park.

What about that for a confidence blow?

        • rvpking says:

thank god dont come back to arsenal . drives me mad when a player scores a good goal and suddenly its like , look what he can do . Good goal , but vela has had morre thgan enough chances . Everyone knows he can finish occasionally and has some skills technically but thats where it ends . i really hope he doesnt come back to arsenal . But i always wish a player luck if and hopefully when he moves on. Also chris , im sure wenger isnt against vela , he has been loaned out for a reason and so far park hasnt had hardly any opportunity to shine , so lets not compare vela with him in any way

          • Derp says:

            you mad bro?

        • Glory hunter says:

Wow uve changed ur tune Chris!
Considering half of the time last season and the beginning of this season, you were advocating for Arsh to replace Theo! Remember?
Now it’s all about preserving with players during their rough patch, the irony!!

Guys I like Vela cos he’s a good player & it was Wenger who signed him so he clearly had big hopes for him & hopefully he’ll come good.

But as it ever occurred to you guys that maybe Vela is shocking in training?
Or are u suggesting that Wenger is intentionally trying to sabotage his own team?
Lets try to be objective, It’s nothing personal, he just wasn’t delivering.

          • Chris says:

If Theo Walcott is not performing the only option we have is to shift Gervinho to the right and use Andrey on the left, that is why I wanted this to happen when Theo was not performing consistently and if he goes back to square one this is what has to happen.

Your Vela is shocking in training statement makes no sense and you know it. Manuel Almunia, Denilson, Mikael Silvestre, Sebastien Squillaci and the list goes on and on and on, all players who featured in the first team yet they were rubbish, showing that the business is on the pitch and not in training and the minutes played to goals scored ratio of Carlos, with Arsenal, is impressive.

            • Glory hunter says:

              So what you are basically saying Chris, correct me if Im misunderstood is;

You don’t think Wenger gave Vela a good shot at establishing himself even though he was outstanding in training & delivered whenever he did get his chance!!!

I obviously disagree, like u said Wenger isn’t biased and usually gives most players a chance!
I really believe Vela must have been bad in training.
There can be no other reasonable explanation.

If he was outstanding in training or even the reserves then he would have had more chances in the 1st team, it’s nothing personal.

We all know Vela has talent but his work rate & attitude unfortunately doesnt yet match the talent.

Example, Vela is better player(technically) than Gervinho.
But I’ll start Gervinho ahead of him all year long.

              • Chris says:

You’re making the mistake of assuming.

                Instead, I’m talking about FACTS.

Did you ever follow Arsenal during training sessions to reach the conclusion you reached? To say that Carlos didn’t work hard in training?

Why are you insisting with training and reserves games when he was outstanding, on the pitch, with the senior squad, scoring wonderful goals and delivering important assists?

Also it’s funny you mention Gervinho and I’ll tell you why. When we desperately needed a DM in 2008, Arsene came out with his “it would kill Denilson, Song, Diaby” nonsense in order to promote Denilson to regular and make him the one to play most games for us during that season.

Last January, same happened, when he said a new centre back would kill the progress of Johan and Laurent.

I know what you’re going to say, that Alex Song and Laurent Koscielny are today key members of our squad but my question is: why wasn’t Carlos Vela promoted to regular instead of signing Gervinho when Samir Nasri decided to leave? Why not give him the Denilson treatment?

Whether Carlos is as good as Gervinho is irrelevant, what I’m trying to say is that you can raise the training attitude argument as much as you like my friend but what I’m talking about are facts, I’m talking about double standard and notice how I didn’t even mention Manuel Almunia and all the chances he was given in goal.

                • alpha t says:

Thats exactly the point Chris, Wenger gives players with less ability than Vela a chance.

But for some reason Carlos didnt, but instead of being reasonable and trying to figure out why he’s not getting a chance, a lot of people are making the assumption that Arsene doesn’t like him.

But it was Arsene who signed him in the 1st place and continues to rave about him.
Are you going to tell me you knew about Carlos before Wenger signed him??

Like i said it cant be personal cos Wenger gives chances to worse players! Its an assumption but the only obvious conclusion (to me) is an attitude problem, or lack of effort in training.

You don’t really believe, Wenger has something against him?

None of us really know what the problem is but if we can agree on 1 thing, its not a personal vendetta by Wenger, thats absurd!!

                  • E2EK1EL says:

                    HEY THINK ABOUT THIS:

WHAT IF Wenger hopes Vela to have a come-back like Wilshere did after Bolton loan… or WHAT IF Theo Walcott had more chances just because the media was putting a lot of pressure for the England National Team [as you see today with Chamberlain]?… just saying!!

I hope Vela comes back with the new goal of fighting for a place in the starting line-up or Arsenal FC, I really do.

                    • MorganMan says:

WHAT IF – he did like jack and went to bolton instead of wba (for what ever reason he did that – we’ve heard rumours) and did like jack and ultimately sturridge did – where would he be now?
i’m hoping we are holding on to him until we change formation as wenger keeps hinting about, so he an show that there is noone in the current squad who can play that role better then him. not even theo!
                      see you soon carlos …hopefully!

          • Geo says:

What rough patch? You mean that vela started of the second half shaky after a great first half? Surely you dont try to compare Arsha, and Theos 4 bad game streak then a 5th great one to 1 game of two halves?

Maybe you are right, bu can anyone really say the have seen Vela play a horrible game? I can understand an anonymous game from lack of playing, but im referring to a game so shocking that you just say “No wonder he never plays.”

            • Mitch says:

One of the key problems with Vela is his position. Arsenal play a sort of 4-3-3 with one central striker, and two wide strikers/wingers.

To be most effective Vela needs to play in a 4-4-2. He is not big or strong enough to play the way RVP does. He can play as a wide man but he’s really not quite good enough in that role. Chamakh, for all his poor form, is still arguably better for the team as a striker because he won’t get bullied by big defenders, and can hold up the ball and bring others into play.

It is part of the reason Eduardo also couldn’t get back in the team after his comeback – he and Vela are similar sorts of players. Eduardo’s best run of form came when he was partnered with Adebayor up front. Arshavin also plays in this role and has been shunted out wide where he is not at his best.

Few top teams are playing 4-4-2 at the moment, so small nippy strikers are the ones to suffer. Guys like Messi, Villa and Aguero are the exception because they are just in a different class.

              • 2gunnsuP says:

Great Insight Mitch! I totally agree with your theory and i’ve thought the same.
There has been times when Vela was completely marked out the game because of his lack of strength and size. A lot of as has said in the past that he will do well in la liga since its less rigorous compared to the epl.

Vela cant quite measure up to the work rate of players like Silva, Walcott, Dyer, Phillips, Lennon, Sessegnon, Aguero etc.

                .

                • eli says:

The fact that you put in Walcott, and lennon, in a list that includes Aguero, and silva astonishes me. Silva, and aguero arent even near as fast the prior two but kill them in terms of work rate and technical ability.

              • winn says:

so since Park is small. Whats going to happen to him?

  • Stefan_b says:

Too bad Vela has never had a real chance at Arsenal as he would probably do a far far better job for the team then Andrey Arshavin.

  • Alex says:

    Soooooooo good.

How much did you like this one, Chris?

  • janggun says:

bring him back and put him in front of chamack on bench

  • Geo says:

    Beautiful goal.

  • Marklee22 says:

better than chamakh park bendter combined anyday… can arsenal start using him as the 2nd choice??

  • dude says:

    Good lad..defiintely has the talent

  • Fatboi says:

No one expected him to do that with that little space..pure class

  • alex says:

    I love the goalkeepers reaction.
Very nice goal. I don’t know, part of me’s still hopeful that he can come back to Arsenal and come into his own, but I don’t see it unfortunately.

  • Dhaval says:

If he is not going to buy anyone then it is better to get him and Bendy back. If they both play together then can fulfill RvP’s absence.

    • gooner 11 says:

exactly.. only if bendtner learn to make use of his physical better to hold off the defends, Vela and Bendtner has the potential to be the deadliest strike partners in the league,. both players has so much of talents and ability, yet something just keep on getting wrong..

  • bashman says:

i think if he continues playing well he will get a chance at arsenal

  • paris86 says:

I think Vela still has a future here and I hope so too. He’s a very good player and i get annoyed every time he is loaned out.

  • Bracknell Gooner says:

I can understand the Sham and the Sham, i like 9., comments. Vela has looked good in cup runs but never sparkled in the Prem. I like the guy and agreed AA is on his way out but give Park a break, he is an off the shoulder player and has had to play off Sham and his diced carrots & couscous.

  • Danny Dimovski says:

I’ve always had a soft spot for Vela.

The quality is definitely there but he really wasn’t given the opportunities at Arsenal except the cup games, which he had more than a decent record in.
And, the game time he’d get in the premier league would be a 10 or so minute cameo.

  • Skavorn says:

    Nice!

  • larry says:

don’t wanna get accused of spam but batticomps4 channel for really good highlights on our arsenal players.

  • Alex says:

Vela ain’t coming back guys…he loves Spain too much :(

  • Loren says:

Why aren’t there any updates in the last week? This is my favorite arsenal blog.

    • larry says:

      is chris ok?

  • African gunner says:

Why the silence? How far with updates this is the best arsenal blog by far. Man city this weekend any thoughts?

  • Simon says:

Is this site dead? It’d be a shame

  • matt foley says:
