Football and Bingo – a Perfect Match?

Football fans may be forgiven for thinking that bingo is not a game for them –but there is a lot more fun that can be had with balls than just on a footy pitch. That’s right – there is loads of gaming action waiting to enjoyed with the balls and numbers game using a bingo card!

Footy Bingo is a new craze that is sweep through bingo players games and enticing football fans to take part in the classic number-calling game. The difference between traditional bingo and Footy Bingo is in the terms called out and what is written on the cards.

In traditional bingo, players use cards with numbers written on them. There are slightly different rules for the 90 ball and 75 ball varieties of the game. as random numbers are called out by the bingo caller, the players mark off the numbers on their cards until they complete a winning line of numbers in 90 ball bingo – or a winning pattern of numbers in 75 ball bingo.

In Footy Bingo the card is not littered with numbers waiting to be struck off, but football terms. So a card might have phrase such as ‘Hand Ball’, ‘Penalty’ and ‘Five a Side’ written on them. The bingo caller will call out these phrases instead of the usual numbers.

A great idea for Footy Bingo would be to have 75 different football terms and a winning pattern of a football or a set of goal posts. Another pattern might be all four corners – symbolising the four corner flags.

Each player in the game has a card with different terms written on it and the game plays out like a normal bingo game. Footy fans can enjoy the terms – you can make them as amusing as you like – and bingo players will like the style of the bingo game they all know and love.

Of course if there is a cash prize on offer this will enable the Footy Bingo players to enjoy their game even more – most football fans enjoy placing a wager on their favourite team now and then. Looking at bingo cards may even remind some hardened footy fans of the football league tables – their bingo cards could even use the names of football teams to create an even more authentic footy feeling!

So there is clearly a lot to enjoy about both football and bingo on their own – and together they can make a perfect match!
